I’m here to help YOU, so please don’t be shy :)

This course is meant as an introduction to walking bass. We won’t be going into any complicated theory and walking bass concepts. What you’ll gain are necessary foundations for expanding your knowledge and more importantly - means of cheating your way into walking bass territory. After all, not all of us end up being session musicians or super stars in certain genres. All musicians (even pros), often prefer to take the easy route and learn how to "fake” certain styles. This is what you’ll learn, you’ll learn how to "fake” walking bass type of lines until you are ready for more. I must say, that this can be a lot of fun and a lot of my friends (myself included), never actually feel the need later on to learn specific styles in more depth.

This course, does not rely on any music theory (at least complicated one). This is a problem of many other walking bass courses as those just dig too deep into music theory that it becomes boring. You’ll just need to have a very basic understanding of how to find certain notes on the fretboard (in basic, most
often used positions on the neck). Since walking bass heavly relies on chords, you’ll need to have a basic understanding of chords and root notes, but we cover those topics within the course.

If you are taking the ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory exam, this course is for you. This question is worth 20% of the whole exam, but since it seems rather "subjective" - how can you know whether your composition is any good?

In this course, you'll learn exactly how to craft a high-scoring composition, which will please the examiners and please you too!

In this course you will learn:

How to adapt the ideas of the given opening in the exam question, using techniques such as sequences, imitation, augmentation/diminution and others, to produce a coherent whole.
How to plan a strong, balanced structure for your composition, using clear phrases and appropriate cadences.
How to modulate - through which keys, and precisely how to do that, using a variety of methods.
How to make your performance directions meaningful and idiomatic (suitable for the instrument you're writing for).

I've been coaching students through their music theory exams for many years, and have a wealth of experience which I'd love to share with you. I'm available via the Udemy discussion board to answer any queries you may have and listen to your comments.

You're studying for the ABRSM Grade 7 Music Theory exam. You know that there will be a composition to write, but what is expected of you exactly? How do they judge something which seems to be so subjective? What are you supposed to do with the piano accompaniment, or series of chords printed on the page? And how do you know if your composition is any good?

This course reveals all!

The ABRSM examiners are looking for evidence in your composition, that you have a good knowledge of music theory and can apply that knowledge by creating a piece of music, in a silent exam room, with no access to a piano.

Rosa has an unique was of teaching, She structure the course in a way, it let us figure out things first before giving us answers, not spoon feeding us. Circle of 5ths Level 2 - Intermediate to Advanced

This course takes musicians to apply more advanced music theory into their playing - Tritones, Tritone Chord Substitutions, Jazzy Chromatic Chord Movement, 36251 Turn Arounds.

It is important for all musicians, whether you play guitar, piano, ukulele, violin, harmonica, or any musical instruments to develop an intimate knowledge of the Circle of 5ths. The Circle of 5ths is a visual picture that tells us the relations between keys, scales, chords, chord progressions, tritones, tritone chord substitutions, pentatonic scales, blues scales, 7 modes of music, etc.

The Tritone chord substitution is one of the most commonly used chord substitutions in jazz. By using tritone chord substitution, you often get a beautiful chromatic bass line in the song and especially in turn arounds.

When it comes to more advanced music theory, students get confused and give up in their struggle to advance in their musicianship.

Here's the secret: Learn to use the Moving Circle of 5ths Dynamically! When you know how to move the circle around to understand Tritones and how the interval is created in the Dominant 7 chords, you will understand why professional musicians do such smooth voicing because they know how to concentrate on the 3rd & 7th tones easily.

In this Circle of 5ths Level 2 course, I will show you how to use the Circle to do Tritone Chord substitutions with Dominant 7 Chords and Minor 7 Chords. In this way, you will have many more options in your music compositions other than the normal Diatonic Chord Progression & Secondary Dominants that you learned in Circle of 5ths Level 1 Course.

When you do Tritone Chord Substitutions, you begin to learn advance music harmonic sounds, and the importance of doing smooth voicing, chromatic bass line chord movement in turn arounds that audience loves to listen to.

In this course, I will also show you when Tritone Chord Substitutions work and when they don't work. There are some rules you need to follow so that you create beautiful harmonic sounds in your piece of music, whether reharmonizing a song or in the writing of your own songs.

You will be doing a lot of assignments so that you learn to find the answer yourself. What you discover sticks with you much more than what you are told. It is easy for me to lay out all the answers and theory for you. What is unique in the course is that I will coach you along to help you think and discover the answers for yourself in a creative way.

The following topics will be covered extensively:

For Volume 16 we examine the theory and practice behind the production of Deep House.

Drawing on elements of Chicago house, soul, funk and Detroit music, deep house is often best known for its jazzy suspended chords, close-concentrated dissonant melodies, soulful vocal snippets and a general laid-back, deep feel to the music.

Spread across 3 DVD's and running close to 14 hours of video we examine the production of this genre step by step with a focus on the deep house style signed to labels such as Anjunadeep.

The tutorial begins with the general idea composition and sound design principles behind the trademark chord progressions, bass lines, vocals and counter melodies. During the course of the first disc, we work at building the basic backbone of the example track while introducing the theory of chord development, retrograde inversion, thematic development in the bass, chord "planing", chords suspensions, diminution, intervallic dissonance and bass/harmony/melodic counterpoint.

Using various examples in both theory and sound design we show how these can be used to create the jazzy feel of the genre.

With the compositional backbone of the track complete, in the second disc we move onto further sound design, this time examining the requisite processing techniques to help maintain the laid back feel and sound of the genre. We also investigate the sound design and programming behind the house style skippy
drum loops and generation of the over-percussive elements, introducing further techniques such as displacement, modulation, cell patterning, multi-rhythmic programming and nulti-measure patterning.

Finally, for disc 3, we work towards completing our example track by tieing all of our ideas together. Beginning with a further examination of synthesis, effects busses and processing chains, we work to develop the track with further melodies and vocal hooks while working towards the complete arrangement.
